Reflection for Tuesday, Dec. 22
A good friend often reminds me “Let go and let God!” In today’s readings, we see how both Hannah and Mary did just that. Hannah trusted the Lord so much that she was able to give up her only son to the Lord. Mary had such deep devotion and love of God that she was able to put fears and worries aside and trust in his calling. But as I watch family, friends, neighbors, and our nation struggle with hurt and pain, I just can’t stand it. I want to fix the pain. I want to control the hurt and make things better for everyone.
Mary knew that God was the only one that can fix things; that God was in control of it all. She didn’t question. She didn’t try to control what was happening to her or others. Instead, Mary sings praises of all the times God came to the rescue of those in need. She trusts His power to be there with love and mercy. With so many hurting right now, help us to remember Lord, that YOU are there with infinite gifts, mercy, and love to all who open their hearts to you and give up control!
