Reflection for Wednesday, Dec. 23
Shh! Listen! Have you heard the silence these past four weeks of Advent? Have you sat in stillness waiting as Mary did so long ago?
The long dark nights of December might make Advent feel almost somber. But then we hear of a baby born to Elizabeth... who was thought to be barren. Or of her husband Zechariah's tongue freed when naming the baby John. What are these messages that are carried throughout the hill country of Judea? "What, then, will this child be?" The darkness and stillness of Advent is ripe with wonder and rich with mystery!
In these last couple of days of Advent, pause... Sit in stillness. Listen to the silence and make yourself ready. For the Lord is coming! Amen!
