It’s All About Love…
First, you love the warm and embracing quality of Holy Family’s environment, the way being here helps you grow in grace and in the knowledge of Christ.
For me, the invitation to love is palpable — at Mass, on retreat, and in the wonderful people and opportunities to do God’s work that I’ve discovered here.
During Sunday Mass, Fr. David’s homilies offer that special insight into the scriptures that so often relates to what is happening in my life.
His words, along with the Holy Family community, inspire me to be a more loving person.
And it’s not just that “feel good” kind of love I’m referring to. It’s love in action.
I’ve met some of the most wonderful and interesting people here — including members of the JustFaith group. They introduced me to The Hartford Catholic Worker. My time volunteering with the children there has made my heart grow in love for each of them.
Through their prison ministry, I began writing to an inmate in Texas. We’ve been corresponding for seven years or so, and we’ve come to know each other quite well.
He is a really talented artist and sends me some of his artwork. I was astounded to learn that he can’t get art supplies in prison — not even paper. I’ve enjoyed sharing the love of our community with him by sending him art supplies and encouragement to continue his beautiful artwork.
On the personal side, I cherish the peace and inspiration I experience during my winter retreats. I come away renewed. And I am always reminded of God’s call to love.
These are just a few of the reasons why I consider Holy Family to be a gem in our community.
The beauty and peace of this sacred place, together with the cultural and educational riches of a thriving spiritual center, make Holy Family unlike anyplace else.
And it’s all available to absolutely everyone.
In a word, Holy Family is INDISPENSABLE to me. And I am thrilled for those who have yet to discover what awaits them here.
