Position Type: Part-Time, Year-Round, 10 Hours per week with opportunity for growth and increased hours.

This position reports to the Director of the Retreat Center or designee.

Job Description: The Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center seeks a passionate and energetic bilingual Coordinator of Hispanic Ministry to lead our evangelization efforts for youth, young adults, families, and individuals of all ages in the Hispanic communities of Connecticut and surrounding states. This position is dedicated to the outreach and the coordination of programs for the Hispanic Catholic/Christians that foster spiritual growth, character development, and a deepening relationship with Christ. The Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director of the retreat center or designee.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Outreach: Cultivate relationships with local parish leaders and organizations of Hispanic Catholic/Christians in Connecticut and surrounding states to ensure participation in retreats and programming that is aligned, culturally and linguistically, with the needs of the bilingual Hispanic community.

  2. Program Development: Working with Holy Family retreat team members, create a range of bilingual/bicultural programs for youth, young adults, families, and individuals, including Vacation Bible Camp, Music and Art Camp, and retreats.

  3. Community and Parish Engagement: Build relationships with parishes, schools, and families to promote and support participation in retreats and evangelization programs.

  4. Evaluation and Growth: Assess program outcomes and participant feedback to continually improve the retreats and evangelization efforts to expand outreach.

  5. Administrative: Responsible for working with Registrar to process registrations, scholarships, creating bilingual marketing and educational materials needed for retreats and evangelization programs. Responsible for establishing a talent bank of bilingual presenters.

This part-time employee (10 hours/week) has the opportunity to transition to full-time employment based on ministry needs and performance.

Qualifications and Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in theology, catechesis, or related field or equivalent experience.

  • The Coordinator of Hispanic Ministry must be an active, fully initiated and practicing Catholic.

  • The candidate is fluent in English and Spanish with exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both languages.

  • Candidate should have strong abilities and experience in program coordination and team collaboration.

  • Strong commitment to inspiring and mobilizing volunteers and people in Hispanic community parishes and organizations.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite, Zoom, using A/V equipment and ability to become competent with the retreat center’s database software.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and plan events.

  • Ability to collaborate and work with retreat team members at Holy Family.

Employment Contingent Upon:

  • Applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.

  • Applicant completion of diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
