Celebrate Earth Day with Holy Family

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, we wanted to share with you this musical selection from our fall Chamber Choir concert, "For the Beauty of the Earth."

For those that aren't familiar with "Laudato Si" here is a link for Pope Francis' Encyclical on care for our common home.

Also, I recently received an email from the World Wildlife Fund and wanted to share with you three ideas they offered for participating in Earth Day at home this year while practicing social distancing.

• Reflect on hope. As we celebrate 50 years of Earth Day this week, read about some of the biggest conservation wins we've accomplished together just in the last ten years. With larger scale threats and global challenges changing our lives every day, it's important to remember the power of collective action and hope—and why the actions we take to protect our planet matter.

• Support the next generation. Do you know a young trailblazer who is making waves to change the planet to be better, safer, and more sustainable for all of us? Share the 2020 WWF Conservation Leadership Award, and encourage them to apply. Learn more about the details, deadline, and who's eligible to apply.

Advocate for science. Amid the breakout of COVID-19, the EPA announced in March a new rule that would limit what scientific information could be used in their decision-making process when it comes to policy making. We need science now more than ever. Will you join us and ensure that science has a leading role when it comes to public health and environmental decisions?

Wishing all of you the peace of Christ,

Fr. David
