2nd Annual Thomas Berry Lecture on Environmental Justice and Ecological Spirituality
Thursday, October 10, 2024
6:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Fr. Joseph Mitchell, C.P.
Thomas Berry, Passionist priest and Earth scholar, according to the New York Times is “the earliest and most important voice to describe the profound importance of the disconnection between humans and the natural world” and prophetic witness in reshaping our thinking about human-Earth relations. This session will draw upon the wisdom of Berry to help us find a path to a viable and hopeful future. The emerging Universe Story awakens us to the remarkable creativity, magnificent interconnectedness, and sacred qualities of the world in which we live. This evening of reflection will begin with a vegetarian dinner in our main dining room, followed by a lecture in the Main Conference Room at 7:15 p.m., and conclude with a brief, ecologically focused prayer service.
This program will be offered both in-person and online via Zoom. Information on how to access the program on Zoom will be sent to participants in advance.
