Reflection for December 30

Mary Billingsley, The Presentation in the Temple Shrine

Luke 2:36-40

This passage seems so simple, but its message is powerful.

There is no godly experience or holy vocation beyond our reach. Age did not limit Anna. Being a widow and childless did not limit Anna. These things do not limit you either.

Your titles, roles, and initials after your name do not determine your ability for God to work through you. God works through everyone.

How you identify, who you say you are, how old you are, how many kids you have, where you live, who you married, and what will or has happened to you will not determine your ability for God to work through you. God works through everyone.

As we begin 2025, let's not let our human circumstances get in the way of living out our godly vocation.

May we always know that each one of us plays an important part of God revealing himself to us.

Each of us is capable of bringing the Good News to others.

I am reminded today of the passage 1 Corinthians 12: 4-11:

Anna was given the gift of prophecy!

Saint Anna the Prophetess, pray for us!
